Am Montag, dem 5. Oktober 2026, um 19 Uhr lesen die beiden Herausgeber Mahmoud Muna @booksellerofjerusalem und Matthew Teller @matthewteller123 aus ihrem Buch „Daybreak in Gaza“ im @jockeleventhall im Biergarten Jockel.

Das ist Gaza – ein Ort der Menschlichkeit und Kreativität, reich an Kultur und Industrie.
Ein Ort, der heute völlig verwüstet ist, dessen gesamte Bevölkerung durch einen scheinbar endlosen Ansturm vertrieben und dessen Kulturerbe zerstört wurde.
„Daybreak in Gaza“ ist eine Dokumentation über einen außergewöhnlichen Ort und seine Menschen sowie über eine Kultur, die von den Menschen selbst bewahrt wird.
Porträts von Künstlern, Akrobaten, Ärzten, Studenten, Ladenbesitzern und Lehrern erzählen Geschichten von Liebe, Leben, Verlust und Überleben.
Sie zeigen den Reichtum der kulturellen Landschaft Gazas und die Bandbreite seiner Geschichte.
„Daybreak in Gaza“ verleiht den Menschen, die als bloße Statistiken abgetan werden, ein Gesicht.
Es ist ein Zeichen des Widerstands gegen die Zerstörung und ein Zeugnis für die Menschen in Gaza.
🗯 Die Lesung findet auf Englisch statt und ist kostenlos.
♿️ Der Veranstaltungsort Jockel ist für Rollstuhlfahrer nicht zugänglich.

This is Gaza – a place of humanity and creativity, rich in culture and industry.
A place now utterly devastated, its entire population displaced by a seemingly endless onslaught, its heritage destroyed.
Daybreak in Gaza is a record of an extraordinary place and people, and of a culture preserved by the people themselves.
Vignettes of artists, acrobats, doctors, students, shopkeepers and teachers offer stories of love, life, loss and survival.
They display the wealth of Gaza’s cultural landscape and the breadth of its history.
Daybreak in Gaza humanises the people dismissed as statistics.
It stands as a mark of resistance to the destruction and as a testament to the people of Gaza.

♿️ The location Jockel is not accessible for wheelchair users.
