You are warmly invited to join us on 28 October to remember our deceased family members, friends, comrades and revolutionaries with flowers, candles and food.
⭐️ There will be fresh pan de muertos and champurrado!
In times of war, exploitation and genocide, mourning and remembrance are not a retreat from the political struggle.
They are part of our resistance.
🌼💀🌼Please bring photos of deceased revolutionaries or your loved ones for our ofrenda! 🥟🍕🌮 – and your loved ones’ favourite food.
To remember is to fight, and it is a promise.
We do not merely mourn those we have lost; we commemorate and celebrate their lives.
And we honour their memory and what they left us for our political struggle, so that we may continue to fight against the very circumstances, violence and systems of oppression through which we lost them.
On the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the deceased are commemorated in Mexico and also in many other regions of Abya Yala.
On these days, the gates between the worlds are opened, and for a short time the deceased return to the living.
An ofrenda is a decorated altar with photographs, candles, flowers, food and personal belongings for the deceased.
It symbolises our love and remembrance of them and is intended to welcome their souls when they return to us on this special day.
