Welcome to Week 2 of ‘The Palestine Chronicles’!

This week is all about community and Palestinian culture – and there are two creative workshops that you can all take part in.

The first workshop focuses on Tatriz, a traditional Palestinian embroidery art form that is as much an art form as it is a way of recording and passing on history across generations. In the face of ongoing oppression and cultural erasure, Tatriz has also become a symbol of resistance today.

Come along to 📍Zwille on Wednesday and learn the basics of Tatriz from a Palestinian artist.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Our second workshop focuses on making kites. For generations, kite-flying has been a favourite pastime for children in Gaza and throughout Palestine, offering them a chance to reclaim their childhood – even under occupation and apartheid.

Today, these simple toys carry great political significance – kites are heavily restricted in Palestine, and the children who fly them are often harassed, threatened or otherwise targeted by the occupying forces.

Against this backdrop, we’re meeting on Friday at 📍Plawi to make and decorate kites – as a sign of solidarity, joy and togetherness.

If you’ve enjoyed ‘The Palestine Chronicles’ so far and would like to find out more about who we are and what we do, we warmly invite you to our open meeting on Wednesday, immediately following the Tatriz workshop. There, you’ll learn more about us and our work, and how you can join the pro-Palestinian movement on campus.

🇵🇸🍉

And, as always, a huge thank you and lots of love to the wonderful  @kittaba   who has kindly allowed us to incorporate her artwork into this design. Be sure to check out her other works on her profile too!
