As part of the raids carried out across Turkey under the name \u2018My Family Is Safe\u2019, a large number of LGBTi+ activists, heads of non-governmental organisations, trans people and journalists were arrested, with at least 82 people taken into custody.<\/p>\n
During the same period, nearly 150 people were arrested during protests against these raids, some of whom were held in custody for over 30 hours.<\/p>\n
There are reports today that those arrested, particularly those being held at Sincan Prison in Ankara, are being subjected to ill-treatment and torture.<\/p>\n
This is absolutely unacceptable!<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Ministry of Justice is directly responsible for the safety of our friends!<\/strong><\/p>\nWe are aware of the human rights violations committed by the state and the ongoing LGBTI+ \u2018witch hunt\u2019.<\/p>\n
Under the guise of \u2018protecting the family\u2019, they cover up domestic violence and criminalise our lives.<\/p>\n
They want to prevent us from coming together, developing political strategies, and are closing down the associations we have founded!<\/strong><\/p>\nThat is why we are gathering on Friday, 25 September, at 6.00 pm at the Neptune Fountain on Alexanderplatz to strengthen our solidarity and proclaim in one loud voice: \u201cBurday\u0131z, A\u015fk\u0131m!\u201d<\/p>\n
